World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Program Associate to be based in Washington, DC. Under the direction of the TRAFFIC wildlife trade team, the candidate will partner with the tech sector and support WWF’s work with e-commerce and social media companies to combat wildlife trafficking on web-based platforms.

This is a Limited Term, 1 year position with the potential for continuation pending funds.


  • Assisting with the monitoring of e-commerce / social media websites for illegal wildlife.
  • Identifying emerging trends in wildlife trafficking online.
  • Communicating directly with tech company partners regarding wildlife trade online.
  • Coordinating a citizen reporting program.
  • Supporting coordination of industry workshops, in-person meetings, calls and logistics.
  • Assisting with production of communication materials about this work.
  • Conducting research on an array of associated issues related to ecommerce and social media, standards and accreditation, e-learning and capacity building, crowd sourcing.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of the project strategy.


  • A Bachelor’s degree plus two years’ experience, or a minimum of four years relevant experience, preferably with environmental or business experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication as well as interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with both an academic and private sector audience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to conduct online research.
  • Ability to take initiative to prioritize and complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with marketing, business communication, ecommerce/social media operations or design a plus.
