World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Senior Philanthropy Writer at our Washington, DC headquarters, to develop and produce the highest level philanthropy materials that will educate, inspire, and present a clear and compelling case for support of WWF’s conservation priorities. These donor-centric pieces must convey donor impact and the organization’s appreciation of transformational gifts.


  1. Collaborates with Deputy Director, senior development officers, WWF leadership, and conservation staff to develop compelling funding opportunities for WWF priority programs.
  2. Generates original ideas and compelling approaches for communications with high net worth individuals with the goal of generating high-level philanthropy. This includes, but is not limited to, concept pieces, proposals, stewardship reports, multi-media presentations, and collateral materials.
  3. Writes highly personalized narratives, using a variety of mediums, to create strategic solicitation and stewardship documents that accurately transform complex material into highly readable, detailed, and inspiring cases for support of WWF priorities.
  4. Provides relevant and timely information about program activities to prospect relationship managers and proactively seeks program information to cultivate donors. Coordinates closely with program and development staff and with others across WWF to complete projects on schedule.
  5. Contributes thought leadership to team, staying knowledgeable of trends in philanthropy especially as relates to donor communications.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree is required. 
  • 6-8 years of professional work experience with at least 3 years of specific experience with philanthropy writing and research, including writing proposals and reports for high net worth individuals and/or foundations and packaging fundraising or marketing materials. 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage numerous deadlines.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively as a member of a team—and to communicate in a cross-functional environment.
