    World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Director, US Corporate Climate Engagement to join our dynamic, influential and growing team at our Washington, DC office. With guidance and support from the Senior Director, US Climate & Renewable Energy, the Director, leads two of the three major priority program areas for the US Climate and Renewable Energy (USCRE) team – harnessing the power of businesses to scale climate action in line with science and mobilizing business voices for climate action in the United States. The Director will serve as a senior member of the WWFUS USCRE team which will be responsible for collectively driving achievement of all the USCRE goals set forth in the WWFUS climate & energy strategy.  



      1. Strategy & Planning: The Director ensures effective development and timely preparation of WWF-US strategy, work & business plans, and budgets related to US corporate climate change engagement, including meeting goals and tracking performance under the strategy and ensuring effective management of grants or contracts in this area.
      2. Policy Development: The Director works closely with the Senior Director USCRE to lead the development of innovative strategies to engage WWFUS’s corporate partners and corporate climate platforms to influence US policymakers and processes; works with WWFUS’s International corporate and cooperation teams, and WWF country offices and international teams within the WWF Network to develop global positions on business engagement in climate policy; ensures alignment between WWFUS and the WWF Network teams on business engagement.
      3. Corporate Climate Engagement: The Director serves as the focal point for engagement with US corporations on Climate Savers, Science Based Targets, bilateral corporate partnerships involving climate issues, and business engagement in We Are Still In. Working closely with the WWFUS Private Sector Engagement team, the international business engagement team, and members of the WWF Network climate and business hub, the Director will develop and advance an integrated approach to US corporate climate engagement that maximizes impact and ensures alignment and clarity with WWF Network climate offerings and strategies for the private sector.
      4. WWF Network Engagement: Working together with the Senior Director, USCRE and in coordination with the Senior Director for international corporate climate engagement, the Director will serve as a focal point for WWFUS in its engagement with the WWF Climate and Business Hub on issues related to Climate Savers, Science-Based Target setting and approaches for bilateral climate partnerships. Director supports the climate team leadership to develop and execute WWFUS strategies to advance climate and energy work globally.
      5. Public Engagement: Working with relevant WWFUS communications and government relations staff, contributes to the development of strategies and plans to engage the US public on US corporate climate issues.
      6. Fundraising: Develops funding proposals and initiatives with businesses, and national, regional and global institutions that support the implementation of the climate components of the WWFUS climate & energy strategy. Supports development and implementation of fundraising strategies, identifies funding opportunities, cultivates donors, and, in cooperation with the WWFUS Development Team, prepares funding proposals and reports to donors.
      7. Technical Expertise: Maintains expertise on the latest scientific understanding of climate change at regional and global levels, science-based targets and corporate climate trends. Develops profile as a thought-leader on these issues with key audiences.
      8. External Representation: Represents WWF-US in external engagements with governments, civil society organizations, businesses, cities and other non-state actors to advance WWFUS climate & energy strategy; communicates with the US and global media.
      9. Supervisory Duties: Supervises program staff, including manager-level staff, program officers, administrative support staff, consultants, and program interns. Provides necessary mentoring and career development support.



    • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. Must possess 10 years relevant experience in environmental and development fields and familiarity with government, private sector and civil society actors and institutions working on climate and energy issues.
    • Strong knowledge of and experience with corporate climate strategies, with deep understanding of how businesses approach these issues, including science-based targets is a must.
    • Strong coalition building and management skills required.
    • Strong preference for relevant experience working in a business or with another organization that supports businesses climate strategies, innovation and science based targets.
    • Familiarity with United States government and state and local government policies and processes. Knowledge of climate issues and familiarity with academic, government, and non-governmental organizations active in the climate change fora and debates in the United States and globally.
    • Able to identify and evaluate appropriate strategies for WWF at national and regional levels, taking into account scientific, political and social considerations.
    • Substantial skills and experience in program design, management, monitoring and evaluation; a commitment and drive to achieve challenging goals.
    • A problem-solving and positive attitude.
    • Communicates clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
    • Able to accurately plan, schedule and budget programs as well as small and large projects.
    • Prior management experience strongly preferred.
