    World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Energy Storage Research Intern. 



    Access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy is crucial for people in Belt and Road countries to achieving many of the Sustainable Development Goals – from poverty eradication via advancements in health, education, water supply and industrialization to mitigating climate change. Renewable energy potentially could be one of the best means to achieving the goals. However, current renewable energy technologies with high cost, unreliable and unstable characteristics are the barriers to be overcome. Low-cost stable energy storage could be the solution to complement the existing renewable energy system. This research is to design an off-grid low-cost energy storage demonstration in selected B&R countries for achieving SDG 7 to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all along B&R.




    • Conduct desktop research about the current energy storage system situation in Central Asia region and analyze the barriers in energy storage in central Asia region
    • Conduct research on the current low-cost battery-based stable energy storage technology that has been widely applied in China, and determine how the low-cost energy storage technology could be applied in central Asia region by analyzing and comparison
    • Compose a research report
    • Other tasks assigned


    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Current graduate student majored in environmental studies, public policy, or other majors related with a demonstrated interest on the research topic;
    • Keen to details and available for ~3 months;
    • Bilingual in English and Chinese, or with a professional working proficiency in Chinese is preferred
