Overview

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Internal Communications Senior Specialist.

 

Major Function

The Senior Specialist will work collaboratively with the Internal Communications team and staff throughout the organization to create, edit, and disseminate written and visual content that engages and informs our employees. The Senior Specialist will play a key role in planning and executing in-person, hybrid, and remote events at WWF headquarters, including all-staff meetings, social events, and educational sessions. The Senior Specialist will bring new ideas to the team and help to continuously innovate and improve processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts and edits engaging content for internal communications channels, including the weekly staff newsletter, intranet home page and latest news blog, staff emails, Workplace, and presentations.
  • Collaborates with teams throughout the organization to produce and promote their key communications through internal communications channels, including email, intranet, e-newsletters, videos, Workplace posts, and meetings.
  • Creates multi-channel communications plans and advises colleagues on how to draft their own communications plans.
  • Works with the Director of Internal Communications in developing the strategy for and leading efforts around WWF-US internal communications, especially focusing on US operations, WWF Network news, and change management.
  • Serves as an editor of our Microsoft SharePoint-based intranet, with duties to include: updating content, writing and posting new content, archiving outdated pages, and co-monitoring (with Information Technology staff) for systems problems.
  • Develops advanced expertise on various internal communications systems and software, including but not limited to Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, Zoom, Mailchimp, and Workplace. Monitors new technologies and developments that will make our work more efficient.
  • Serves as an event organizer and event manager for in-person and Zoom-based all-staff events; helps teams produce their events, including advising on best practices, promoting events, and assisting with event management. Works closely with outside vendors to negotiate cost-effective and eco-friendly event orders.
  • Responds to requests for information and opportunities for collaboration from WWF colleagues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in communications (or advanced degree with minimum of three years’ experience) including an understanding of a variety of writing styles and communications platforms.
  • Self-starter who has strong journalistic writing and storytelling skills.
  • Strong writing, editing, project management, and event management skills are required, with an emphasis on superb organization and follow-through.
  • Ability to set and manage a multitude of priorities in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of staff and vendors.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and analysis to seek out and resolve issues.
  • Energetic and passionate about conservation and communications, a positive attitude, and adaptability to change.
