BRIDGE is WWF’s summer internship program. Launched in 2021, it is a paid internship opportunity aimed at a pool of talented undergraduate and graduate students who could bring fresh thinking and innovation to the environmental sector. In particular, WWF aims to employ interns who have not previously had a breadth of professional experience and have not previously considered conservation as a career pathway. 

Position Summary 

WWF seeks a talented individual to assist in communication support to help move the CARE-WWF Alliance’s priorities forward. 

The CARE-WWF Alliance works at the critical intersection of development and conservation. Powered by two global leaders in their respective fields, the Alliance leverages complementary skills, competencies, and scale to strengthen ecosystems, support women and the communities who depend on them, and help build a future where people and nature thrive. 

To bring about sustainable change, we must improve people’s well-being while ensuring the viability of the ecosystems on which they depend. The joint presence of CARE and WWF in more than 40 countries provides the opportunity for an initiative of global scope and significance. Together, CARE and WWF can tackle complex challenges, increasing both community and ecosystem resilience. 

Internship Description 

• Work with various teams throughout both CARE and WWF to learn more about programmatic areas within each organization to identify internal communications opportunities or gaps. This includes helping to foster new and existing relationships within both organizations. 

• Update and maintain two appealing and informational intranet pages (one U.S.-based and one global) that will promote the CARE-WWF Alliance and provide necessary resources to staff within WWF. 

• Create and update materials to raise awareness and build support and partnerships for the CARE-WWF Alliance in general and Sowing Change in particular, including but not limited to web content, donor documents, and presentations. Research, write, and/or edit papers highlighting CARE-WWF Alliance programs for publications, academic conferences, and events. 

Minimum Requirements:  

• Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s program in communications, knowledge management, environmental studies, international relations, or humanities. Those studying outside these areas are still highly encouraged to apply. Must be an actively enrolled student and not received degree at time of internship start date (June 16, 2025). 

• Experience using the full Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint and OneDrive. 

• Excellent research skills. 

• Attention to detail. 

• Organized and self-motivated. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to take initiative, prioritize, and successfully complete work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrates courage by speaking up even when it is difficult, or unpopular.

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Subject expertise in creating content for various platforms and using software such as Canva is preferred, but not required.

• A deeper understanding of how two large NGOs work together to bridge the connection between conservation and development. 

• An opportunity to collaborate with and learn from technical experts at both organizations. 

• Refined communications skills for various audiences. 

• Knowledge of conservation and development issues through research and organization of materials. 

• Experience in various programmatic areas within both CARE and WWF. 

• Enhanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including SharePoint and OneDrive. 

WWF interns will be offered a set of professional development opportunities, aimed at increasing their exposure to conservation and sustainability careers. This includes: 

• Development discussions with their manager; 

• Up to two online courses through Cornell University’s eCornell program; 

• Speed mentoring with different WWF teams; 

• Opportunity to present their work to intern peers and WWF staff; 

• Session on resume and interviewing best practices. 

Interns will also have access to an array of networking opportunities. This includes meetings with WWF’s staff and leadership team. 

Location: 

This position is flexible on location. The intern may complete the internship either in Washington DC or other states, with the exception of: Hawaii, Kentucky, Nevada, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Wyoming. 

Compensation: 

Paid - $20.50 per hour (full-time, 35 hours per week) 

Internship Dates: 

Internship will run from June 16, 2025 to August 22, 2025
